K1
The ProAc K1 is a high-end stand-mounted loudspeaker developed from ProAc’s K Series floor-standing models.
It combines the company’s specialist Kevlar-cone bass/midrange technology with its proven ribbon tweeter, with modifications to the cabinet and drivers specifically for the smaller stand-mount format. The cabinet incorporates ProAc’s distinctive K Series design and vent porting, helping the K1 produce an unusually extended and accurate bass response for its size. It measures 569mm high, 210mm wide and 15.8 inches deep and is designed specifically for stand mounting.
Bass and midrange frequencies are handled by a single 165mm (6.5-inch) Kevlar-cone driver. ProAc pairs this with its ribbon tweeter, which uses an extremely lightweight ribbon together with rear-chamber damping and an Alnico magnet. The combination is designed to produce the open, natural midrange associated with the K Series, alongside accurate bass and a large, spacious soundstage.
The K1 has a frequency response of 28Hz–30kHz, a nominal impedance of 8 ohms and a sensitivity of 90dB at 1W/1m. ProAc recommends amplifiers rated between 10 and 150 watts. Its crossover uses high-quality components mounted on a dedicated dual-layer circuit board, with ProAc multistrand oxygen-free copper cable used throughout. The crossover is split to support optional bi-wiring and bi-amplification.
The speaker is supplied with an acoustically transparent Crimplene grille, with magnetic grilles available for certain finishes. Standard finishes are Black Ash, Mahogany, Cherry, Natural Oak, Silk White and Walnut, while Liquidambar, Rosewood, Ebony and Tamo Ash are available as premium options at additional cost. ProAc also offers a dedicated K1 stand separately, measuring 500mm high with a 320 × 190mm top plate and weighing 15kg per stand.
