Response D2
The ProAc Response D2 is a compact high-end stand-mount loudspeaker and the modern evolution of the model that originally introduced ProAc’s Response Range more than 30 years ago.
Its cabinet measures 430mm high, 203mm wide and 260mm deep, including the 12mm grille, with each speaker weighing 11kg. A front-facing reflex port helps the D2 produce a powerful and extended bass response despite its relatively compact dimensions, while the design is intended to provide the transparency, precise imaging and natural midrange expected from a true monitor loudspeaker.
The Response D2 uses a ProAc 165mm (6.5-inch) bass/midrange driver incorporating an Excel magnet system, glass-fibre weave cone and copper phase plug. Two tweeter configurations are available. The D2D features a ProAc 25mm (1-inch) silk-dome tweeter with air cooling, inner damping and a mirror-image offset arrangement, while the D2R uses ProAc’s ribbon tweeter, featuring an extremely lightweight ribbon, rear-chamber damping and an Alnico magnet.
The Response D2 has a frequency response of 30Hz–30kHz, a sensitivity of 88.5dB at 1W/1m and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. ProAc recommends amplifiers rated between 20 and 150 watts. Its crossover uses high-quality components mounted on a dedicated circuit board, with multistrand oxygen-free copper cable throughout, and is split to support optional bi-wiring or bi-amplification.
Designed for stand mounting, the Response D2 is supplied with an acoustically transparent Crimplene grille, with magnetic grilles available on certain finishes. Standard finishes are Black Ash, Mahogany, Cherry, Walnut, Natural Oak and Silk White, while Liquidambar, Rosewood and Ebony are available as premium finishes to order at additional cost.
