Response D30S
The ProAc Response D30S is a high-performance floor-standing loudspeaker available in two versions: the D30DS with a silk-dome tweeter and the D30RS with ProAc’s ribbon tweeter.
Its cabinet measures 1041mm high on spikes, 266mm wide and 311mm deep, with each speaker weighing 28kg. ProAc designed the D30S to provide a flat, natural response with powerful bass, low colouration, excellent midrange detail and a wide soundstage.
The Response D30S uses a specially developed ProAc 165mm (6.5-inch) bass/midrange driver fitted with an acoustically damped Pagina Mica cone and phase plug. The pulp-and-mica cone is treated with an acoustic coating, while the phase plug is designed to improve detail around the crossover region and contribute to a more natural presentation.
Two high-frequency configurations are available. The D30DS features a ProAc 25mm (1-inch) silk-dome tweeter with air cooling, inner damping and a mirror-image offset arrangement. The D30RS instead uses ProAc’s lightweight ribbon tweeter, incorporating rear-chamber damping and an Alnico magnet. Its crossover uses high-quality components on a dedicated circuit board with multistrand oxygen-free copper cable throughout, and supports optional bi-wiring and bi-amplification.
The Response D30S has a frequency response of 20Hz–30kHz, a sensitivity of 89dB at 1W/1m and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. ProAc recommends amplifiers rated between 10 and 200 watts. These specifications, together with its bespoke bass/midrange driver and carefully developed crossover, are intended to provide powerful low-frequency reproduction while retaining an open, detailed midrange and accurate imaging.
The D30S is supplied with an acoustically transparent Crimplene grille, with magnetic grilles available on certain finishes. Standard finishes are Black Ash, Mahogany, Cherry, Natural Oak and Walnut, while Liquidambar, Rosewood and Ebony are available as premium finishes to order at additional cost.
