Response DB1
The ProAc Response DB1 is a compact high-end stand-mount loudspeaker designed to produce the scale, bass extension and soundstage normally associated with considerably larger speakers.
Its cabinet measures 320mm high, 182mm wide and 280mm deep, with each speaker weighing 8.8kg. Constructed from varying thicknesses of high-density MDF and damped with bitumen to control resonance, the DB1 uses a rear-ported design to achieve an extended, punchy low-frequency response while maintaining minimal visual impact.
The DB1 uses a ProAc 127mm (5-inch) long-throw bass/midrange driver featuring a Pagina Mica cone and acrylic phase plug. The current model is available in two versions: the DB1D with a ProAc 25mm (1-inch) silk-dome tweeter featuring special coolant and inner damping, or the DB1R with ProAc’s lightweight ribbon tweeter, which incorporates rear-chamber damping and an Alnico magnet. The ribbon version became available in May 2026 and is the smallest ProAc Response model to feature the company’s ribbon tweeter technology.
The Response DB1 has a frequency response of 35Hz–30kHz, a sensitivity of 87.5dB at 1W/1m and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. ProAc recommends amplifiers rated between 20 and 100 watts. Its crossover uses high-quality components mounted on a dedicated circuit board, with multistrand oxygen-free copper cable throughout, and is split to support optional bi-wiring or bi-amplification.
Designed specifically for stand mounting, the DB1 is supplied with an acoustically transparent Crimplene grille, with magnetic grilles available on certain finishes. Standard finishes are Black Ash, Mahogany, Cherry, Walnut, Natural Oak and Silk White, while Liquidambar, Rosewood and Ebony are available as premium finishes to order at additional cost.
