Response DB3
The ProAc Response DB3 is a compact high-end stand-mount loudspeaker designed to deliver a rich, full-scale sound from a relatively small enclosure.
Measuring 320mm high, 182mm wide and 280mm deep, and weighing 8.8kg per speaker, the DB3 uses a single rear reflex port to provide extended bass response. ProAc describes it as offering improved efficiency and a sound that belies its compact dimensions.
The DB3 uses a ProAc 127mm (5-inch) long-throw bass/midrange driver featuring a Pagina Mica cone and transparent dust cap. This is partnered with a ProAc 25mm (1-inch) silk-dome tweeter with special coolant, designed to provide a flat response with detailed and smooth high-frequency reproduction. The crossover uses high-quality components mounted on a dedicated circuit board, with multistrand oxygen-free copper cable throughout, and is split to support optional bi-wiring and bi-amplification.
The Response DB3 has a frequency response of 38Hz–30kHz, a sensitivity of 88.5dB at 1W/1m and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. ProAc recommends amplifiers rated between 20 and 100 watts. Combined with its rear reflex loading and long-throw bass/midrange driver, these specifications allow the DB3 to provide substantial bass extension and dynamic performance while retaining the imaging and detail expected from a compact monitor.
The DB3 is designed for stand mounting and is supplied with an acoustically transparent Crimplene grille, with magnetic grilles available with certain finishes. Standard finishes are Black Ash, Cherry, Walnut, Natural Oak and Silk White, while Liquidambar, Rosewood and Ebony are available as premium finishes to order at additional cost.
