Design and Construction
The Planar 3 RS Edition follows Rega’s low-mass, high-rigidity plinth philosophy. The plinth uses a lightweight foam core structure combined with high-pressure laminate surfaces to maintain structural stiffness while limiting mass. This approach is intended to reduce energy storage within the enclosure.
The RS Edition finish reflects Rega’s Reference Series aesthetic, with a clean, minimal external design that aligns visually with other Rega components.
RB330 Tonearm
The turntable is equipped with the Rega RB330 tonearm. This tonearm incorporates precision bearings and a rigid arm tube design intended to maintain stable cartridge alignment and controlled tracking geometry.
The RB330 is compatible with a range of moving magnet and moving coil cartridges, allowing flexibility within different analogue system configurations.
Neo PSU Electronic Speed Control
The RS Edition includes the Neo PSU external power supply. The Neo PSU provides electronic speed control for 33⅓ and 45 RPM operation and is designed to regulate motor performance and rotational consistency.
Speed selection is handled externally via the Neo PSU unit, separating motor control circuitry from the main plinth assembly.
Platter and Drive System
The Planar 3 RS Edition uses a precision float glass platter designed to maintain rotational stability. The belt-drive system operates via a 24V low-noise motor, integrated to provide consistent torque transfer to the platter.
