The Rega Planar 3 RS Edition takes the iconic Planar 3 to a new level, combining a specially developed brushed aluminium HPL plinth with carefully matched components for greater rigidity, speed stability and musical performance. The dark brushed metallic finish is complemented by high-gloss black edging, giving this special-edition turntable a distinctive premium appearance.
At its heart is Rega's hand-assembled RB330 precision tonearm, factory fitted with the Nd5 moving magnet cartridge. The Nd5 features a nude elliptical diamond stylus and Rega's latest generator geometry, with miniaturised parallel coils designed to provide excellent channel balance, low inductance and an extended high-frequency response.
The Planar 3 RS Edition includes a custom-matched Neo MK2 power supply. Its 24 V low-noise motor is individually tuned to the Neo MK2's anti-vibration circuit, helping reduce motor noise while improving rotational accuracy and speed stability. Electronic speed changing and fine speed adjustment are also provided by the Neo MK2 PSU.
A Reference EBLT drive belt and custom CNC-machined aluminium pulley further enhance speed accuracy. Rega's double-brace technology reinforces the lightweight plinth between the tonearm mounting and main hub bearing, increasing rigidity in critical areas while helping minimise unwanted resonance and energy transfer.
The turntable uses a 12 mm Optiwhite polished glass platter and Rega's patented brass main hub central bearing. A smoked dust cover is supplied as standard.
Specifications include a hand-assembled RB330 precision tonearm, factory-fitted Nd5 moving magnet cartridge, 24 V low-noise motor, 12 mm polished-edge glass platter, Reference EBLT drive belt, double-brace plinth construction and RCA/phono connectivity. Power is supplied from the included Neo MK2 PSU via Mini DIN.
The turntable measures 447 x 117 x 360 mm with the lid closed and weighs 6.0 kg. The Neo MK2 PSU measures 180 x 150 x 50 mm, operates at 24 V AC and has a power consumption of 7.2 W. Speed adjustment is available in 0.01 RPM increments.
